On my first Mountain of Power CD I did a cover of Mountain’s “Land Of Milk And Honey”. As “the phat man” was one of my biggest influences when I started playing guitar, I wanted to give his music another shot. This time it’s a track from his first, and I may add – outstanding, solo album (where the second guitar is played by none other than pre-Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones). There may not be that many exciting musical variations in this track, but the main riff is more than enough! The vocals, by Thalamus front man Kjell Bergendahl (formerly Sjöström), is actually not that far from Leslie’s original vocal style and he was also kind enough to provide a short but sweet guitar solo. Leslie has since recorded numerous albums with Mountain and also a long range of highly recommendable solo albums. Drums on this track were provided by former Pod drummer James (Ed) Collins.
