I’ve had the pleasure of jamming with Frank Marino in a music shop in Sweden. Frank played drums, I played his SG (with super slinky strings) and Overdrive guitarist Kjell Jacobsson played bass. After this he bought his Folkesson modded Marshall. What a memory!! Mahogany Rush caught my attention quite late, I shall admit. It wasn’t until the release of “World Anthem” that I got to really hear Frank’s guitar playing, but this album made a big impression on me! From there I went to “Child Of The Novelty” and “Strange Universe”, which is are two of my favourite Marino albums. Since Danish hard rockers Blindstone sound quite influenced by Mahogany Rush and Martin has the perfect feel for it, it was really a no-brainer to ask him to sing it and lay down some guest soloing. As this was to be a guitar extravaganza, I also asked Kamchatka guitarist, another guitar-slinger I love, Tomas Juneor Andersson, to add his solo. I also laid down a down right evil sounding solo, using all types of effects (Octaver, fuzz, wah-wah). In my mind, right from the start, I also wanted John Norum on this one. I know John is a great fan of Franks (he even did a Marino-cover on the Marino tribute “Secondhand Smoke”) and I absolutely love his playing (people have actually often asked me if I’m inspired by Norum, so I guess I am). I gave John the track without any of our solos. He spent a day in the Playyard studio, pretended it was Woodstock-time and just went nuts all over the track! I loved it so much I decided to extend the track, just to get every ounce of John’s soloing in there!Line-up:
Martin J Andersen: Vocals and lead guitar
John Norum: Lead guitar
Janne Stark: Rhythm guitar, Lead guitar
Thomas "Juneor" Andersson: Lead guitar
