Maybe another track you wouldn’t expect. A friend of mine played me the albums “Awaiting Your Reply” and “Rainbows End” by Resurrection Band sometime in the early 80s and I was stunned. A Christian band?! This heavy?! Right on! The riff in “Waves” has always been one of my favourites, so this time I just had to do it. Already early on Christian Rivel, whom I have had the pleasure of working with when I did some guest spots in his bands Narnia and Audiovision, expressed his interest in singing the track. As the original version has a male/female vocal combination I didn’t want to stray away from that. Christian suggested Maria Rådsten, whom I only knew from pop band One More Time. But could she rock it out? He sent me a file of a Queen cover they had done, and I decided she could! One of my favourite guitarists since I first heard “Gretchen Goes To Nebraska” (I missed the debut at first), is Ty Tabor. Since I love his playing, this track would fit his style and he has actually produced the album “Lament” by Resurrection Band, I decided to send him a mail. The answer was – he’d do it! Again, I was a happy man! The drums on this one was again provided by James Collins, who did an outstanding job. The interesting thing was that I received his drum files after all my guitars and bass were finished. It’s that nerve-racking feeling when you drop the files into the project and press play… And the relief when you play through the entire track as it all fits like a glove! It takes a great drummer to be that tight! Mr Collins sure is!
