One of my first favourite albums, one of the albums that actually got me into hard rock (thanks to my cousin Percy Stark), was the debut by US rockers Montrose. It’s still one of my milestones of hard rock. When Sammy went solo it took me a while to really get into his stuff. There were a couple of songs on each of the early albums that rocked. “Urban Guerilla” was actually a song I had totally forgot about until Joe Romagnola of Grooveyard Records reminded me and wanted me to do it. Since the lyrics deals with a ”heavy metal Cinderella”, I figured this should be sung by a girl with powerful vocal chords. I had a couple in mind but one that did stick out was Canadian Nail singer Cindy Weichman, whom I previously had the pleasure of meeting when she played in Sweden with Helix. Since the track was Joe’s suggestion I also let him add some guitar flare and the final solo was by Grooveyard recording artist and guitarist extraordinaire Jay Jesse Johnson whose latest CD “Play That Damn Guitar” had been spinning frequently in my player. On this one I also got to play solos until my fingers bled
